FROM ANN, JULY 2008
THE WHITCOMBE LEGACY, BOOK ONE: THE VAMPIRE JULIAN, the first
in the vampire trilogy, was released in June. Book One, features the vampire Julian,
the eldest of the Whitcombe triplets. The story is set in New Orleans with Hurricane
Katrina as a backdrop. A five-star review from Harriet Klausner was a bonus I wasn't
expecting, and her anticipation of the next two books gives me even more of an impetus
than I already have to finish them. Read the full review...
I'm now working on the
second book of the WHITCOMBE LEGACY trilogy which features the middle brother, Jerome.
Book Two, is set in San Francisco, and yes, you guessed it, anticipation of The
Big One is the force behind Jerome's story. Jerome is scheduled for release in the
Spring of 2009. Book Three is scheduled for release soon after.
Home to Stay, the
short story requested by Arabella Magazine years ago, which never reached print
because the magazine had an early demise, will soon be released by THE WILD ROSE
PRESS.
UNEARTHED and A SCENT OF CEDAR, the former a romantic suspense, the latter
a paranormal romance, still remain unpublished. I've renewed the commitment I made
to myself earlier this year to work harder at landing at least one of them on the
desk of an editor or agent.
SOMETHING NEW: A few months ago, I spent two days working
on my writing with my critique partners, Pamela Kopfler and Jaimie Bergeron. We
spent the time at Pamela's lovely home in Bayou country. It was an exceptionally
fruitful couple of days, especially since it was our first face-to-face lengthy
critique session (we do almost all of our work on-line)and we had no hard and fast
guidelines in place when we began. Both Jaimie and Pamela made headway on works
that were already in progress, while I loosely outlined (with both their help) the
plot for a Historical Romance. I'll talk more about my venture into that new sub-genre
in a later update.
If there's something you'd like to ask me about my writing, or
any other writing related subject, please send me an email at ann@annbmorris.com.
I'd love to hear from you.
Until next time,
Ann
